05/04/2006. SUR. The SIMA fair kicks off with Sando as an important novelty.
The group is focusing strongly on the housing sector and witnesses growth of 110% in turnover. SIMA reinforces the presence of holiday and tourist homes in this, its eighth edition.
The big shop window of real estate is under way. The Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón and the government’s General Secretary for Housing, Javier Ramos threw open the doors of the Madrid Real Estate Fair (SIMA) which until Saturday will be a platform for the investment opportunities available in the sector.
Among the most attractive novelties at the event, now in its eighth edition, is a first appearance there by Sando. This is a construction company that has placed a lot of emphasis on the property market over recent years and that now comes to SIMA ready to claim the place that rightly belongs to it in the market. “Although Sando has 40 years experience behind it, its real estate activity is now just two and a half years old. However, despite our youth, we have grown at a fantastic rate, as illustrated by our presence here at this year’s event”, explains Sando Inmobiliaria’s Managing Director, José Luis Miró.
In fact, the company now has a land portfolio consisting of 2.5 million square metres to build on around Spain. “Undoubtedly, the Costa del Sol and Malaga itself are always reference points for us, and at the moment we have over one million square metres of land with planning permission in that general area”, Miró went on to say.
Tenth in the ‘ranking’
The 102 million Euros turnover that Sando achieved last year are a 110% rise on the amount obtained the previous year. This turnover makes Sando the tenth construction company in Spain in terms of revenues. “The high expectations for property investments and the eight million square metres of land currently being managed reflect the healthy state of real estate in Spain right now”, the Managing Director of Sando Inmobiliaria added.
SIMA has once again placed a strong emphasis on second homes – represented in the Inmotur section of the event – by increasing the surface area dedicated to this area by 63% compared to last year. “This is mainly due to the increasingly high numbers of developers that specialize in holiday homes in Spain”, the Director of SIMA, Eloy Bohúa explained
The Costa del Sol, together with the Costa Blanca and Costa del Azahar, is one of the regions that has the most specialist companies in the second home market.
The Director of SIMA also wanted to underline the importance of international exhibitors to this year’s event. “Their presence is increasingly evident, with 12% of this year’s exhibitors being foreign companies. We are working hard on making the event as international as possible, with notable success”, he said.
Its ever higher international profile, together with the large number of exhibitors this year, ensure that SIMA “is becoming one of the key property fairs at a global level, Bohúa finished by saying.
