05/04/2006. SUR. Sando’s residential products, one of the novelties of the SIMA fair in Madrid.
The SIMA fair is focusing more tan ever before on holiday homes and is consolidating its position as a major promotional platform for the sector at an international level.
The biggest shop window in the world for the real estate sector, the event with the most exhibition surface, is currently under way. The Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón and the government’s General Secretary for Housing, Javier Ramos, opened the doors to the property fair Salón Inmobiliario de Madrid (SIMA), which goes on until Saturday the 8th of April. This event will serve as a platform for the sector to get to know the new investment opportunities in the housing market. Among the most attractive novelties at the event, now in its eighth edition, is a first appearance there by Sando. Sando is a Malaga-based constructor that has put a lot of its efforts into the real estate sector over the years. The financial results and volume of business reached in the past year are encouraging to a company that now wants to try its strength in new markets, as well as Exchange ideas and projects with other companies present at SIMA. Sando, a company with over 40 years experience that has earned a respected reputation in the sector, now has a portfolio of land of about 2.5 million square metres distributed around Spain. The Costa del Sol and the city of Malaga are key geographical areas for the company, which now has over one million square metres of land in the zone. The 102 million Euros turnover achieved last year represent a 110% increase in the volume of business, and places them in seventh position in the ranking of Spanish construction companies. The Madrid Real Estate Fair (SIMA) has once again placed a strong emphasis on second homes – represented in the Inmotur section of the event – by increasing the surface area dedicated to this area by 63% compared to last year. This is mainly due to the proliferation of developers that specialize in holiday homes in Spain. The Costa del Sol, together with the Costa Blanca and Costa del Azahar, is one of the regions that has the most specialist companies in the second home market. The Director of SIMA, Eloy Bohúa, highlighted the importance of international companies at the fair in his inaugural speech. “Their presence is increasingly significant, as on this occasion 12 percent of the exhibitors at the fair are from abroad. We are striving to make the event increasingly international, which is more obvious now than ever”, Bohúa said. In fact, the internationalization of the event, the enormous corporate presence – over 700 firms – and the size of the exhibition area allow SIMA to be considered one of the most significant property events in the world.
